Riga, 15 September: The Nordic-Baltic Energy Room Worth Being In
On 15 September the Nordic-Baltic Energy Conference 2026 puts ministry officials, transmission system operators, offshore developers, manufacturers and researchers from both regions into one hall in Riga for a single day on security of supply. We look at what the programme actually contains, why a grid-heavy agenda matters to Power-to-X, and who from the PtX side should make the effort to be there before registration closes on 9 September.

The Nordic and Baltic energy sectors rarely sit in the same room. On 15 September they will, in Riga. Nordic Energy Research and the Nordic Council of Ministers' Offices in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania are hosting a full day on energy security and security of supply. Registration closes at 17:00 on 9 September.
The programme
Four sessions between 09:30 and 17:00. A high-level roadmap discussion built on Energy Security in the Nordics, the June 2026 report carrying 25 recommendations, with Karen Ellemann, Līga Rozentāle and Gert Siniloo. Preparedness in local energy systems, with Litgrid and Eurowind Energy on lessons from Ukraine. A grid panel on completing the Nordic connection, with ENTSO-E, 50Hertz, Ørsted, NKT and Northern Europe Energy Group on offshore hubs and energy islands. Policy pitches from three early-career researchers to close.
Why Power-to-X should be in the room
Hydrogen and e-fuels are not on the agenda. That is the reason to go. Offshore hubs, energy islands and cross-border capacity decide where electrolysis can sit, when it connects and what power costs — and under RFNBO rules that link decides whether the output qualifies at all. The room will be grid, policy and offshore: the audience PtX teams rarely reach at their own events. Developers with Baltic sites, equipment suppliers, port and industrial offtake teams and investors stand to gain most.
